League of Legends: Beginner Guide

Damage Types

Physical damage is reduced by Armor.
Magic damage is reduced by Magic Resistance.
True damage ignores defenses.

Why Armor Counters ADCs

ADCs deal mostly physical damage through basic attacks. Building Armor directly reduces their damage.

Example: 300 damage → ~150 damage against a tank.

Penetration vs Resistance

Resistance reduces damage.
Penetration ignores resistance.

Health & Shields

Health is your permanent life pool.
Shields provide temporary protection that absorbs damage before health.

Cooldowns & Ability Haste

Abilities have cooldowns. Ability Haste reduces cooldown duration, allowing more frequent spell usage.

Vision & Wards

Placing wards provides vision on the map. Vision allows you to avoid ganks and control objectives.

Objectives vs Kills

Kills give gold, but objectives like towers, dragons, and Baron provide lasting team advantages.

Early / Mid / Late Game Scaling

Some champions are stronger early (power spikes), while others scale into late game. Understanding scaling helps you decide when to fight or farm.

Why Tanks Still Deal Damage

Tanks may not burst enemies, but their durability and crowd control allow them to influence fights and apply consistent pressure.
